I am looking for guest contributors. The reward is $20 CAD equivalent to be paid through PayPal, e-transfer, Bitcoin, or Ethereum. Alternatively, if you are in the Toronto area we can hang out and I can buy you lunch. You will be credited in the post, or you can choose to post anonymously.
STEM majors, non-STEM majors, tech bros, non-tech bros, AI alignment researchers, and regular Joes alike are welcome to contribute; I’d love to hear your thoughts! This blog is really just to get people thinking and talking about AI and AI safety, regardless of whether you are deep into tech or not.
What to write about, examples:
- The current state of AI in your field, and how it might be disruptive in the future
- Really unexpected behaviour from your interactions with AI
- Why you feel super optimistic/pessimistic about the future of AI
- Explain a technical problem with AI alignment, and why it is important
- Explain a potential solution to a technical problem with AI alignment
- Provide a realistic roadmap for the development of strong AI and your justifications
Formatting:
- A piece of writing around 500-1000 words long (flexible word count above and below)
- A song, artwork, poem, or other piece of media as long as there is a minimum level of effort (read terms below)
A submission may be an existing work, as long as it is related (at least tangentially) to the theme of AI alignment. It must be an original work, not something created by ChatGPT or similar.
Thank you!
Terms:
The $20 CAD cash equivalent reward is paid out based on effort. 1. There must be a minimum level of thought and care put into the work. I (Jonathan) am the sole judge of whether a piece of content meets this bar. I promise I don’t judge very harshly - as long as it seems like you’ve put some thought into AI alignment and you haven’t just vomited words onto a page, it will probably be accepted. 2. I also reserve the right to not post something to the blog if I don’t deem it interesting enough or it is too similar to something already posted. In this case, you may still claim the $20 CAD equivalent for your efforts but your work will not be posted. 3. The reward may be claimed an infinite number of times as long as the person submits a thoughtful original piece of work each time.
